about

The track is a recollection of thoughts that followed August 12, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia. “Destitute” is a very small taste of his upcoming album inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah Valley that Frazier has lived his entire life in; The Blue Ridge harbor a juxtaposition of a physical history of confederacy and a new found rectitude that swallows that hatred whole. According to Frazier, the besiegement of the oppressor did not win in Charlottesville, and it never will. The song begins with a descriptive and narrative-like image painted of what downtown Charlottesville looked like. This is followed by an frustrated, melodic, chaotic outcry of a chorus. As the song continues so do the events of that treacherous evening, including the (inadequate) response of the current administration. The guitar weeps along with Frazier, the Virginia community, and our country before the song fades out. Despite this, voice and light that will never fade is that of Miss Heather Heyer; She tragically lost her life that afternoon. With the release of this song, Frazier is accepting donations to the Heather Heyer foundation in memory of a hero who stood for equality that lost her life. The foundation provides scholarships for students attending school for social justice. You can find the link below.
